It took several hours to free the horses and clear the wreckage before the interstate could reopen.
A veterinarian evaluated the horses.
“Both horses appear to be OK and were both able to walk on their own,” the Dayton Police Department posted on social media.
No human injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The driver was cited for improper towing and not having a valid license, police said.
